It was one of those nights again. One of the nights that mermaids from all around feared...a full moon. Full moons weren't exactly Rikki Chadwick's, Gold Coast local and secret mermaid, favorite thing whatsoever. And so, she was sitting in her trailer, knees curled up on her bed, looking down at the sheets and nothing else at all. Her dad was luckily at a bike convention with Thelma, his beloved motorbike. Rik had invited Emma, Cleo, and Lewis over, but since they hadn't arrived yet, she was worrying that they had already been moonstruck. "That's what I get for waiting last minute," she mumbled, not even daring to raise her head up even the slightest bit. What Lewis was up to, she didn't know. Maybe they were moonstruck and he was taking care of them. Rikki had decided on just staying in her position all night, not getting up even for food. She wasn't going to destroy anything - she had her mind set to it.
Rikki yawned, keeping her eyes shut tight. She hadn't done anything to keep the moon out of her trailer, which was apparently a dumb thing to do. She wasn't like Lewis - she couldn't be so prepared for these kinds of things. Her eyes seemed to be glued shut as she stayed seated, hardly breathing. Maybe she would be able to make it through that night. She was crossing her fingers. Part of her was wishing that someone was there with her, part of her didn't. It would be best if she were left alone, she could do less damage that way. Just stay out of contact with water and avoid seeing the moon. That's all she had to do.
** posted on day of actual full moon
