She was used to turning heads as she walked down the narrow, semi-secluded boardwalk; not necessarily because of her beauty, which even she thought to be a little on the average side, but because of the strange way she dressed and carried herself. Her lips were lined and shaded with a translucent layer of black, her eyes lined with the same colour and covered in shimmering, midnight blue eye shadow. Her hair was left down and flowing with a blue silk ribbon tied into it, and her body was adorned with a flowing white cotton and lace dress, with white wedge-heeled sandles to match.
In her mind she looked wonderful, but it was obvious from the looks she got that she was not something that people were used to seeing. Honestly, she really couldn't care much less if she tried anyway. She paused when she approached the end of the boardwalk, taking a deep breath as her eyes took in the red of the setting sun. It wasn't Sparta, but it was certainly was as close to perfection as anything could really get on the Gold Coast.

Rikki was...well, in one of her normal Rikki moods. Meaning - she was pretty much one hundred percent happy, but some of her still wanted to grab someone by the neck and squeeze. She was pretty bored, sitting in her home. Rik had called Emma and Cleo's cell phones and received no answer from either of the girls. She had also called Zane, but still no answer. And so, she sat on her small couch in her trailer home's living room, twirling her phone around in her hand. Her blond hair was up in a messy bun and she had only a small amount of make up on. It was just enough to make her look presentable. Her shirt was a tank top with black, white, and red stars on it. Deep blue jeans followed that, and a pair of red Converses.
The blond yawned and then sprouted up a thought. She'd go for a walk. Maybe the reason her friend weren't picking up the phone was because they were out somewhere and both left their phones. She knew the chances of this was slim, but she still felt like walking. And so, Rikki sighed before rising from her seat. She wasn't sure where her father was at that moment, but she knew he was in the house. "I'm going out, be back later," she called loud enough so that he could hear. Before he could stop her from leaving their home, Rikki hurried outside, sliding her cell phone into her pocket as she did so. She decided just to walk, there wasn't really any need to get sweaty by running or jogging.
Rik arrived at the boardwalk in a matter of minutes, her arms swinging beside her as she walked. She hadn't spotted Cleo or Emma or even Zane on her way there. The girl pushed some stray hairs from her face as she looked over at the sea. She was unaware when she reached the end of the boardwalk...until she tripped.

Mina was snapped immediately out of her distant, dreamlike world by the sounding of a loud thud somewhere nearby. She whirled around, the skirt of her dress moving with her, and her blue eyes widened as she beheld an unfamiliar blonde on the ground. She faintly recalled having seen her around but never having talked to or heard her, and she could tell by looking that she seemed to be around her own age.
Hurrying over to where she was and hovering slightly above her, though not so close as to make her uncomfortable, her lips parted only slightly before she spoke. "Are you alright?" She questioned with an eyebrow raised, her still rather thick Greek accent apparent in her clear, delicate voice. "That seemed a bit of a nasty spill..." She offered her hand to the girl in an offer to help her up, hoping that she had not hurt herself though doubting that, even if she had, it would be particularly serious.

Rikki sighed, laying there for a moment and thinking about how much of a clutz she was. She should have been watching where she was going, not being hypnotized by the ocean. She was lucky that she hadn't fallen in any water, even if just a small puddle. The blond pushed hair from her face again, scowling at how no one was busting their butts to come help her up. "Selfish brats," she muttered under her breath, lifting herself up. She was prepared to stand whenever a girl with an unusual style turned and looked at Rik. This girl had black lipstick and matching eye color, which made Rikki raise her eyebrows. On first look, the blond would have believe she was goth. And she probably was, but Rik wasn't sure. The girl asked if she was alright and Rikki nodded her head. "Yea, I'm fine."
That seemed a bit of a nasty spill... Rikki laughed briefly. "Nah, I think I'll live. Should've been watching where I walked," she said, taking the girl's outstretched hand and getting up. Rik brushed the dirt off of her jeans silently, momentarily looking at the sunset. She could imagine that was why the girl was there. And as far as she could recall, Rikki hadn't saw her around the school. "Hey, are you new here? I don't think I've saw you much," she asked, placing and hand on her hip to rest. The girl did have an accent, a strong one at that. And it wasn't Australian.

She nodded, laughing lightly as she helped the girl to her feet. "Well that's good; I'm not a particularly good doctor and I don't think I brought a cell phone..." she joked with a slight smile. She was glad she had finally found somebody on the Gold Coast that seemed even remotely interesting; it meant that maybe there was hope after all for her making friends there and not being tempted to drink bottles of bleach....well, maybe that was a bit melodramatic, bur still.
She nodded in response to the girl's question, glancing sideways at the setting sun. "Yeah, I'm fairly new. Just moved here about a month and a half ago from Sparta." She sighed. "And not so sure that I like it very much just yet." She shook her head.
"Though you probably don't want to hear about that." She smiled softly again at the girl. "The name's Mina," she introduced herself, looking down in an expectant manner at the other girl from the very slight elevation that was caused by the heels. "Mina Starsgaard."

Rikki shifted her position so that she was crossing her arms and smiled faintly when the girl laughed. Part of her wanted to wipe the black off of the girl's lips with a rag, but Rik believed that she could easily fight the temptation. The blond grinned when the girl said that it was good that she wasn't hurt, being she wasn't a doctor. Rikki nodded her head and looked over at the sunset. It was a pretty one that evening, traces of purple and an elegant orange tracing the horizon. She didn't look away when the girl answered her question about being new. Yeah, I'm fairly new. Just moved here about a month and a half ago from Sparta. Rikki let her arms fall back to her side and looked at the girl. "Sparta?" she questioned. "Isn't that like in Greece or something?" Now she recognized the girl's accent. It was Greek. It all clicked now.
Rikki frowned as the girl said that she wasn't sure if she liked the Gold Coast yet. "I moved here from South Africa about a year ago," she told her. "I didn't think I'd like it either...my parents got a divorce and my dad took me traveling. We moved around a lot before we settled here. I was fed up by the time we arrived," Rikki added, scratching her elbow silently. "But I've found a lot of good friends here...I bet you'll like it after a while," she said softly, letting her gaze fall on the sunset again. Rikki's eyes flickered to the girl, Mina, as she introduced herself. "Rikki Chadwick," she replied, squinting her eyes slightly.

She nodded, smiling. "Yeah, I was born there; lived in the same villa by the beach my whole life, which probably explains my not liking the Gold Coast so much yet..." She admitted with a shrug, before pausing to listen to what the girl had to say. "Wow. Well, I can't pretend that I know anything about South Africa, but it is nice to meet someone who was in the same situation." It was rare for anyone to find Mina expressing her gratitude; she was proud, and not partial to taking advice from anyone -- especially strangers. But she was showing her gratitude now to this girl, mainly because she didn't seem to have been seeking it. "I suppose I could give it some more time," she said casually.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Rikki," she said with a nod before her attention was once again turned back to the sunset. Her finger unconsciously twirled around the string of blue beads as she stared at the lovely palette of pinks and yellows and reds and oranges, and with a soft, barely audible sigh she decided that maybe the Gold Coast wasn't so terrible all of the time. She suddenly wished she had a camera or a sketchbook or a canvas or even the back of a napkin and some crayons, so that she wouldn't have to forget the blending of colours presented to her.

Rikki smiled faintly and nodded her head as Mina explained that she lived by the beach her whole life. "It's hard leaving the places you're used to, isn't it? I kind of believed that the people here would have three heads and webbed feet," she told the girl, still smiling a wee bit. But, out of the many things that Rik enjoyed about the Gold Coast, sunsets were pretty high on her favorites list. She had always liked sunsets, and she still liked them there. All of the colors, the way the clouds looked...all beautiful. This was the reason Rikki couldn't exactly find the will in her to look away. Rikki only nodded her head when Mina said it was nice to meet someone that was in her situation. The blond crossed her arms, trying to find a comfortable standing position. She might as well be falling into a rather long conversation with the girl before her.
Rikki put on a small smile when Mina said that she could give the Gold Coast a try. She looked over at the darkly make-up-ed girl for a few seconds, still grinning, then back to the sunset. So...she could feel one of her Rikki moods passing, turning more into a more...mixture of Cleo and Emma mood. They were happy almost all the time, right? They didn't want to rip anyone's innocent head off unless they were provoked, right? That's how Rikki was feeling. And she wasn't being provoked. Mina said it was a pleasure to meet her. Rikki's expression didn't change. "So, how old are you? Just so I can get a concept of how long you've lived in Greece," Rikki asked, mentally slapping herself when she heard how Emma-ish those sentences sounded to her ears.
